The monarch has been battling an illness throughout the holidays, which had resulted in her canceling her annual trip to Christmas mass in Sandringham Estate.

But the news of her New Year’s health issues have us even more worried; especially after her all-too-believable Twitter death hoax of last week.

Now, the Queen Mother has skipped out on New Year’s Day church services in Sandringham because she was too sick to attend.

Her reps are claiming that she only has a cold, but could her condition be more serious than they’re letting on?

Elizabeth hasn’t been seen in public in almost a month, with her last appearance taking place on December 9. Since then, she’s been under the weather, and if it is just a cold then it must be a particularly nasty one to last for weeks.

Since her 95-year-old husband Prince Philip managed to make it to the first church service of 2017 despite also reportedly fighting a cold, we have to wonder if the Queen’s situation is more dire.

What do you think? Does Queen Elizabeth II just have a cold, or is she battling a more serious illness?
