When Carrie Fisher passed away last week and her mother Debbie Reynolds tragically followed the day after, many sent their thoughts to the actresses’ family, especially Billie Lourd, who underwent the unfathomable pain of losing a mother and grandmother in the span of two days.
Although the 24-year-old understandably kept quiet since then, she took to Instagram today to open up about the troubling time and thank those who have sent her their support.
“Receiving all of your prayers and kind words over the past week has given me strength during a time I thought strength could not exist. There are no words to express how much I will miss my Abadaba and my one and only Momby. Your love and support means the world to me.”
Messages like “stay strong” and “I love you” fill the comment section in the newest photo, as well as nearly every other image on her Instagram profile, as fans and friends continue to send their support and condolences to the Scream Queens star.
Lourd has received heartfelt messages from those closer to home as well. Last week, her stepfather Bruce Bozzi commended her resilience, which he said was something she inherited from her mother and grandmother. “The strength of these women live so vibrantly in you,” he wrote.
“To have to lose the girls, it’s just horrible,” her uncle, Todd Fisher, told E! News. “She’s got their genes, but you can’t even imagine. I can’t imagine being 24 and having to do this—and I’m 59.”
