Brenda Guerrero, 52, was trying to get into the festive spirit by dressing her pet pooch Scarface in a Christmas jumper at her home in Tampa, Florida.

But things took a turn for the worse when the dog didn’t like the clothing, bit his owner on the arm and wouldn’t let go.

Brenda’s husband Ismael, 46, tried to pull the dog off but was savaged too before their son Antoine, 22, stabbed Scarface to stop the attack.

Police were called and – after failed attempts at subduing the pet with bean bag rounds and tasers – they finally stopped the attack using a tranquiliser.

Brenda and Ismael were both rushed to hospital after the attack which took place on December 30, 2016.
