United Nations: Landmark Cyprus reunification talks get off the ground in Geneva1:21
Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akyncy and Greek Cypriot leader Nicos Anastasiade resumed reuinification talks at the United Nations in Geneva, Monday. Lasting until Wednesday, the talks are being chaired by the Special Advisor to the United Nations Secretary-General on Cyprus (SASG) Espen Barth Eide. A conference on Cyprus will be convened with the participation of the guarantor powers Britain, Turkey and Greece on Tuesday. Cyprus has been split after Turkey sent troops to protect Turkish communities in 1974, and there have been several failed attempts to reunify the island since.
