Before we could even get some of the Bachelor 2017 contestants’ names down in the premiere, Nick Viall sent a whopping eight of them home.

Luckily, that quick elimination didn’t continue into the second week.

Before we get to Episode 2 eliminations, let’s go over what went on leading up to that.

The ep kicked off with a group date, where 12 girls joined Nick for a wedding photoshoot.

Meanwhile, Lacey Mark, Raven Gates, Elizabeth Whitelaw, and Jasmine Goode were forced to be “bridesmaids.”

Things seem to go well until Corinne got jealous of one girl’s risque outfit and whipped her top off, alienating many of the girls. Still, the lucky gal got the group date rose and was safe for another week.

Then, Danielle Maltby got the first 1-on-1 date of the season, taking a boat ride in Newport Beach and riding a ferris wheel at Balboa Fun Zone with our Bachelor.

After a vulnerable conversation about her fiancé’s death, she got a rose ticket into next week, as well.

After that, it was time for a six-girl group date — with Jaimi King, Christen Whitney, Kristina Schulman, Astrid Loch, Josephine Tutman, and Elizabeth Sandoz — to the Museum of Broken Relationships, where the women were asked to “dump” Nick in front of an audience.

Liz got a little weird during her “breakup” with the 36-year-old hunk, mainly because of their history.

Thus, during her alone time with Nick, Christen told him what she’s learned about the two of them. So what happened next?

Nick sent his former flame home — but not before a very awkward conversation between the two.

“To me, I had a great time, but to honest, when you made that decision, I kind of said goodbye,” he begins, referring to her rejecting his attempt to get her number after the Janner wedding.

“And now, thinking about the relationships I’ve been forming with all the women here and just trying to be honest with myself and upfront with you.”

He wasn’t done yet, either.

“I feel like there’s other things going on with the other women,” he started the final blow. “Based on the conversation we had the other night and the conversation we had now, I have the clarity I’ve been looking for.”

He concluded, “I just don’t think we have a future. I just think it’s best for both of us if we say goodbye tonight.

“At one point, there was definitely something there between Liz and I — who knows what would have happened,” the 36-year-old said to the cameras as we watched him walk her out.

“But that time has definitely passed and I wish her the best, and I hope she finds what she’s looking for.”
