A truck driver has been charged with culpable driving over a fatal crash in Melbourne that killed a female police officer on her way to work.
The truck failed to stop at the intersection of Boronia Road and the EastLink on-ramp in Wantirna just before 9am on Thursday, ploughing into the stationary motorbike, police say.
The woman, aged in her 40s, was trapped under the truck and died at the scene despite efforts of emergency services.
All westbound traffic on Boronia Road was diverted from Wantirna Road and Mountain Highway but was reopened at 3.30pm.
The driver of the truck, a 26-year-old man from Ferntree Gully, has been charged with culpable driving and dangerous driving causing death.
He was remanded in custody to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday.
