Hulk Hogan was fired by WWE in 2015 after using racial slurs in a leaked sex tape.
The Hulkster also vanished from WWE’s website and his merchandise was axed.
It looked like the career of the twelve-time world champion was at an end.
“I think he’s an icon and I think he’s welcome back”
But now speculation is mounting that he’ll make a return, thanks to two new developments.
Firstly, WWE’s Chief Brand Officer – the boss’ daughter, Stephanie McMahon, mentioned him by name.
Not only that, but she did so at a press conference about the brand’s biggest show of 2017, Wrestlemania 33.
Describing the annual event’s legacy, she recalled seeing Hogan, The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin at Wrestlemania 30.
“Generations of fans were brought together in one moment in the centre of the ring as [they] celebrated the WWE with a toast,” she said.
Then, in the first edition of the WWE Network’s Bring it to the table panel show, another ring legend said he expected the return.
JBL agreed that Hogan’s remarks were “past inappropriate” but said “I think we will” see him make a comeback nonetheless.
“It was horrible,” he continued. “I can’t say if it was a one-off or not, but he was punished… and punished severely.”
“I think he’s an icon and I think he’s welcome back. I would like to see him back at the WWE,” JBL added.
WWE executive Triple H, Stephanie McMahon’s husband, has previously said that Hulk could be forgiven.
