A THREE-year-old girl has been killed and a 31-year-old woman flown to hospital in a serious condition after a car crash in central Victoria.

Police believe a car struck a tree near the corner of Heathcote-Rochester and Cornella-Toolleen roads at Cornella just after 4.50pm today.

The little girl died at the scene.

A 61-year-old woman and a five-year-old girl were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A police spokeswoman said the exact details surrounding the collision were not yet known.

She said police were investigating.
