The Perfect Suit for the Modern Man on the Go

For today’s mobile professional, a wardrobe needs to work overtime. It has to look good in a business meeting, obviously. But it should also stand up to the rigors of commutes, working in airports and hotels, long days, and, of course, drinks after hours. And it needs to be comfortable. That’s where Kenneth Cole’s Techni-Cole collection comes in. It has the look and cut of traditional tailoring, but uses the fabric technology of athletic clothing to create a stylish lineup of pieces perfect for today’s urban warrior.

We asked menswear entrepreneur Brandon Bryant to take a few Techni-Cole pieces out for a spin to show that being stylish doesn’t mean compromising comfort. Get his take on the new-tech tailoring, plus a few styling tips for how to wear it.

On his personal style

“From the beginning, my style was very tailored. Now I’ve lost the tie, lost the dress shirt, and am dressing more smart casual. Whatever I’m wearing works for any type of occasion, and I’m not over-dressed or under-dressed. I always wear slacks, and then I dress them down with sneakers and sweaters or T-shirts. And then when I can I throw a blazer over it—something breathable and flexible.”

On how he styled the Techni-Cole pieces

“I wanted to show the versatility of the pants and sneakers for fall, and how you can take off the suit jacket and wear a really presentable top—whether it’s a button-down shirt, a rollneck or regular sweater, or a T-shirt. ”

On the future of tailoring

“With tech fabrics, you can wear suits at all times. Whether it’s to drinks or to work or out walking on weekends. You don’t necessarily feel that if you bend a certain way it’s going to rip right open.”

On where he would wear the Techni-Cole collection

“I would wear this on a typical day—going to meetings, showrooms, or working in coffee shops. On the weekends when I’m not necessarily wearing a jacket at all, I would definitely spruce up my outfit by wearing a pair of the slacks.”

On dressing for mobility

“I walk 40 to 50 miles a week, so I need shoes that are not running shoes, but that look good and wear well and feel great on my feet. I need pants that can go through a 12-hour day, with the ability to deal with temperature changes and through different environments.”
