The campaign officially launches next month, but we caught up with the stars to talk about style, sports, and the one thing in each guy’s wardrobe that instantly makes him feel more confident. Oh, and we grabbed a few exclusive behind-the-scenes shots along the way. Here’s what they all had to say.

Kevin Love

Banana Republic

His number one style rule

To always look polished and put together. I am all about looking good while being comfortable.

Banana Republic

The one thing that instantly makes him feel more confident

Nothing makes me feel more confident than a well-tailored suit. I’m never afraid to be overdressed.

His worst style mistake

When I was younger and just coming into the league, I may have made a sidestep or two until I found my footing aesthetically, but there’s no one big mistake that stands out.

His style inspiration

I get my style influence from a variety of influences whether that’s Old Western movies, Don Draper, or Robert Redford. I am inspired by classic Americana, but always look to add my own twist.

How he balances style and sports

Style has become a huge influence in sports, so it’s about embracing that interest and using moments to highlight it during the season and off-season. A partnership like the one I have with Banana Republic gives me access to clothes that help me look and feel great without sacrificing functionality.

His number one style rule

My number one style rule is to make sure that I am stylish while also focusing on comfort. No one looks good if they’re uncomfortable.

The one thing that instantly makes him feel more confident

I would say a really great suit.

His worst style mistake

I would say that my worst style was wearing ill-fitting suits. Early on in my career, I was still wearing some of the same baggy suits that I wore in college. I’ve since upgraded my suit collection in a major way!

His style inspiration

I like to get inspiration from a number of places. I am constantly checking out blogs and social media to see what some of the up-and-coming trends are. Ultimately, though, I make my style decisions by choosing the pieces that I think most embody my own personal sense of style.

How he balances style and sports

Working with Banana Republic has been awesome because it lets me bring my off-court style to the forefront. My day job is most important, so I try to represent myself and my team well by looking good when I’m not in a jersey.

Didi Gregorius

Banana Republic

His number one style rule

First and foremost, my colors always have to match. Outside of that, I try and maintain an elevated relaxed fit, utilizing a pop of color whenever necessary. Being comfortable but looking good is always my priority.

The one thing that instantly makes him feel more confident

A well-tailored pant is always key. I like the cut on the Banana Republic charcoal suit trousers. They fit me great, and if you know you look great, you are definitely going to be more confident. Also, it doesn’t really hurt being able to wear the Yankees jersey day in and day out!

His worst style mistake

You’re assuming I’ve made a mistake…

His style inspiration

It’s important for me to always maintain a sense of style that’s unique to me. You can communicate a lot about yourself through the way you dress. There isn’t one place that I draw inspiration from, it comes from all around me. When I’m shopping, I just know what works and what doesn’t.

How he balances style and sports

A lot of the things I look for in clothes—like performance, style, and fit—are based on my day job and what I need from my wardrobe every day.

Matt Ryan

Banana Republic

His number one style rule

Comfort is what drives all of my style decisions. You can’t look good if you’re not comfortable in what you are wearing. That goes for my cleats as well as what I wear off the field.

The one thing that instantly makes him feel more confident

A great button-down shirt makes you feel confident, looks put-together, and can be worn so many different ways.

His worst style mistake

Did anyone see the suit I was drafted in? Who wears a shirt and tie under a sweater, under an oversized suit?

His style inspiration

Other than my wife, who has played a huge role, my upbringing on the outskirts of Philadelphia definitely helped define my style. Preppy was “in’ in the ’90s, and I guess being a prep school kid didn’t help. I’ve always gravitated towards clean lines and understated patterns, which Banana Republic has really captured with their menswear, but in a more updated and modern sense than the things I was wearing in high school.

How he balances style and sports

It is a lot easier these days, as a lot of clothes are not just designed for style, they are also designed with features to make people comfortable in everyday life, whether it’s certain fabrics that are more breathable, things that don’t wrinkle, or tailored cuts that still allow for movement.
